Who we are
The Order of the Full Gospel is a dispersed community of normal people from all walks of life who have committed to follow Jesus in a specific, intentional, and ordered way.
We hold onto the wisdom and rhythms of the historical church while seeking the vitality of a Spirit-filled life.
Prayer, or communion with God, is the core spiritual discipline of our rule of life.
-
Christian spirituality characterized by the wisdom and rhythms of the historical church and the vitality and vivacity of the personal and corporate experience of the Holy Spirit as exemplified by the early Pentecostals.
Vision Statement (The Big Idea)
-
To be a dispersed, monastic-informed order of common people who follow Jesus by a common rule of life based on the fivefold gospel of the early Pentecostals.
Mission Statement (How We Get There)
FAQs
-
An “order” is a community of Christians who seek to follow a rule of life together. OFG is a dispersed community of people who are following the OFG’s rule of life. We gather regularly online for encouragement, support, learning, and prayer.
-
It is a specific and intentional way to follow Jesus. Our rule of life is made up of five vocations and five dispositions.
-
A vocation is simply a particular way we do something in the world for God. Our vocations are 1) Communion with God 2) Weakness 3) Ambassador of the in-breaking kingdom of Heaven 4) Intercessor 5) Herald of the Heavenly Kingdom.
-
A disposition is the way in which our hearts are oriented to God. Our dispositions are 1) communion with God 2) Meekness 3) Repentance 4) Dependance 5) Hope
-
Early Pentecostals called the core functions of Jesus the “full gospel.” They are Jesus the Savior, Sanctifier, Spirit-baptizer, Healer, and Soon-coming.
-
“Vocation” comes from the Latin word meaning “summons” or “to call.” When we make a vow to the Lord, we are simply saying “Yes” to the things he has asked us to do. Making a vow to the Lord helps us follow through on our desire to love and serve the Lord in these particular ways. A vow is not a way to be controlled or manipulated. It is a holy promise to the Lord, not to any human or the OFG.
