Rule of Life

Our rule of life is based on the “full”, or “fivefold”, gospel of early Pentecostals - Jesus the Savior, Sanctifier, Spirit-baptizer, Healer, and Soon-coming King.

Without a rule of life, our lives lose focus and our relationships with Christ fade into the background of the chaotic and mundane pressures of our daily lives.

Jesus the Spirit-baptizer

Vocation: Communion with God
Power from God must always be preceded by and secondary to communion with God.

Disposition: Communion with God
Communion with God through prayer is at the heart of our rule of life.

Prayer: I’m here, Holy Spirit.

Jesus the Healer

Vocation: Weakness
Weakness is the the strong foundation that empowers our vocations.

Disposition: Meekness
We do not grasp the levers of power. We bear the indignities of those who strike our cheeks.

Prayer: Fear not, for Christ has overcome the world.

Jesus the Sanctifier

Vocation: Ambassador of the in-breaking kingdom of heaven
Injustice, racism, hatred, violence - if it doesn’t exist in heaven then it shouldn’t exist on earth.

Disposition: Repentance
Repentance is our indispensable ally in the process of sanctification.

Prayer: Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Jesus the Savior

Vocation: Intercessor
We participate in God’s salvific work in the world through intercession.

Disposition: Dependance
Everything depends on Jesus doing what he says he does and being who he says he is.

Prayer: Son of David, have mercy.

Jesus the Soon-coming King

Vocation: Herald of the heavenly kingdom
Through evangelism and discipleship we declare the kingdom of heaven is not the kingdom of this world.

Disposition: Hope
The return of Christ will usher all of creation into full communion with God. This is our ultimate hope.

Prayer: Return quickly, Lord Jesus.
